No. 6 Endicott College Edges Beacons in Defensive Battle

BOSTON, MA (April 2, 2025) – The Beacons' baseball team (13-7, 4-0 Little East Conference) lost a close one in a defensive battle against NCAA DIII No. 6 (d3baseball.com) Endicott College Gulls (15-3, 4-0 Conference of New England) in a low-scoring thriller at Monan Park. The Gulls strung together two early runs, which proved to be the game's only runs, handing UMass Boston its first home loss of the season.

Despite the loss, the Beacons' pitching staff held the powerful Gulls' offense in check with just two runs on seven hits powered by stellar defensive performances across the board.

Ross Dexter (Milton, Mass.) worked six solid innings, facing 25 batters. He struck out seven and walked just two for another impressive showing in his sixth appearance of the year. Logan Lawrence (Taunton, Mass.) pitched two innings, and Thomas Kierce (Cohasset, Mass.) closed out the game with one inning, combining for three strikeouts and allowing only two hits in the final three scoreless frames.

Offensively, Justin Gouveia (Dartmouth, Mass.) recorded the Beacons' first hit of the game in the fourth inning with a single to left-center field. Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.) added the second UMass Boston hit in the sixth inning with a leadoff single through the right side.

Defensively, the Beacons totaled 27 putouts and nine assists. Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.) led the team in putouts at first base with seven, while Bostyn Burris (Highland Village, Tex.) and Farnacci each recorded a team-high three assists, with Burris at third base and Farnacci at second.

The Beacons will put the tough loss behind them and look to bounce back tomorrow, April 3, when they host the Roger Williams University Hawks, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. For live stats, follow the link (HERE). For live video coverage, follow the link (HERE).
