Breon Parker (Springfield, Mass.) and Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.) each belted home runs, with Parker's first career, and Levine's fourth of the season, they helped power the Beacons offense to a statement win. Additionally, Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) tied a program record with four doubles to contribute to the Beacons' offensive onslaught.

Winning Pitcher: (2-1) Hunter Ward (Nashua, N.H.) – 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 SO, 44 NP
Losing Pitcher: (1-3) Conor Quinlan – 3.2 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO, 85 NP

Both teams used six pitchers in the contest. UMass Boston started with first-year Connor Curtis (Mansfield, Mass.), who struck out a team-high four batters against 10 total. He was followed by Keenan Metrick (Malvern, Penn.), who struck out two in 1.2 innings of action. Ward threw three innings, earning his second win in eight appearances this year. First-year Justin Silverstein (Shelton, Conn.), and sophomores Ethan Nowak (Hampton, N.H.), and Angelo Centrone (Bethel, Conn.) each pitched one frame to close out the final three innings, combining for six strikeouts against 14 batters.

How it Happened:

  • Mariano Jimenez (Waltham, Mass.) opened the game with a leadoff single to deep center field. He advanced to third on Bostyn Burris' (Highland Village, Tex.) double to left-center and scored on a groundout from Richard Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) to give the Beacons a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

  • The Hawks rallied for five runs in the second inning, capitalizing on five hits. Metrick came in to shut down the rally, retiring four batters in a row, including a forced ground out to Levine at first base and striking out the final batter of the side.

  • Williams responded with an RBI double in the third inning, scoring Justin Gouveia (Dartmouth, Mass.) to pull UMass Boston within one run of the deficit.

  • The Hawks extended their lead to 7-2 with two more runs on three hits in the fourth inning.

  • The Beacons erupted with 14 unanswered runs over the next three innings, starting in the fourth. They scored six runs on four hits, highlighted by Levine's team-leading fourth home run of the year, a two-run blast that scored both himself and Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

  • UMass Boston added four more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Burris, Gouveia, and Miles each hit consecutive RBI doubles. In the sixth, Parker launched his first career home run, and Burris added another RBI double to score Jimenez for his third run of the game.

  • The Beacons capped the offensive barrage with five additional runs in the eighth inning, including a two-run infield single from Parker, the final RBIs of the outing.

By the Numbers:

  • Eight Beacons recorded RBIs, and nine players had at least one hit. Miles, Burris, and Gouveia each went 4-for-6, combining for 12 of the Beacons' season-high 21 hits.

  • Miles led the team with four RBIs and two scored runs, including tying the program record for doubles in a game with four. The last player to hit four doubles in a single game was Todd Ezold in 2015 against Western Connecticut. Miles tied his career-high with three stolen bases, bringing his season total to a perfect 7-for-7.

  • Gouveia went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, including a team-high five runs scored. Burris and Jimenez scored three times each, while Miles, Parker, and Farnacci each added two runs.

  • Parker finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs, including his first career home run, marking a day he will surely never forget.

  • Five Beacons recorded extra-base hits: Burris had three doubles, Gouveia had two, and Levine and Williams each added one, with Miles leading the team with four.

  • Jimenez also stole two bases, pushing his perfect season tally to 15-for-15, a team-high.
