Beacons Blow Out Colonels in 22–6 Victory

MILTON, MA (April 16, 2025) – The UMass Boston baseball team (19-10, 7-3 Little East Conference) unleashed a powerful offensive performance in a 22–6 road rout of Curry College (8-15, 4-6 Conference of New England) on Wednesday afternoon. The Beacons launched a season-high four home runs, added six doubles, and tallied four sacrifice flies en route to setting new season highs for both hits and homers in a single game.

How It Happened

UMass Boston deployed eight pitchers in a staff day on the mound. Jonny Pagano (Attleboro, Mass.) opened with two innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out four. Justin Silverstein (Shelton, Conn.) earned the win—his second in 10 appearances—tossing a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts.

Also making one-inning appearances were Keenan Metrick (Malvern, Pa.), Connor Curtis (Mansfield, Mass.), Jack Cangelosi (Williamstown, Mass.), Angelo Centrone (Bethel, Conn.), and Marcus Mensah (Greenville, R.I.). Senior Jake Silveria (Norfolk, Mass.) returned to action for the first time in three weeks and closed the game with a scoreless ninth, striking out one of three batters faced.

UMass Boston took a 2–1 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Richard Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) and a run scored by Bostyn Burris (Highland Village, Texas) on a play at the plate. Curry responded with a run on a groundout.

The Beacons exploded for 10 runs in the second inning on seven hits, including home runs from Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.) and Brandon Gaer (Rocky Hill, Conn.). Mike Meagher (Marston's Mills, Mass.) delivered a two-run double, and Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) followed with a two-RBI single. Levine launched his team-leading fifth home run of the year, and Gaer followed two batters later with his first of the season to cap the frame at 11–1.

In the third, Meagher and Miles hit back-to-back solo shots to highlight a four-run inning. UMass Boston led 16–3 entering the fourth.

The offense kept rolling as Meagher added an RBI single and Miles drove in another with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. In the sixth, RBIs from Cole Bissaillon (Great Barrington, Mass.), Reed Burkett-Schneider (Dallas, Texas), and Burris extended the Beacons' lead even further.

UMass Boston's final run came in the ninth, when Jayden LeFleur (Dighton, Mass.) drove in Josh Garner (Arlington, Mass.) to cap the dominant win on the road.

By the Numbers

  • The Beacons batted .500 (22-for-44) as a team. Meagher led the charge with a perfect 4-for-4 day, including a double, home run, and four RBIs—tied with Miles for the team lead.

  • Burris and Burkett-Schneider each added three hits. Burris scored four runs and drove in one, while Burkett-Schneider scored twice and drove in two.

  • UMass Boston recorded six doubles, led by Burris with two. Williams, Meagher, Mariano Jimenez (Waltham, Mass.), and Burkett-Schneider each added one.
