Beacons Route Panthers in 10-5 Home Win

BOSTON, MA (April 15, 2025) – The UMass Boston baseball team (18-10, 7-3 Little East Conference) used a relentless offensive attack and a strong start from Ross Dexter (Milton, Mass.) to secure a 10-5 win over Plymouth State University (3-14, 0-6 LEC) on Tuesday afternoon at Monan Park. Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) led the charge with three RBIs, and every Beacon starter reached base safely.

How It Happened

Ross Dexter (3-1) earned the win, tossing five innings and allowing four runs on five hits while striking out two. Logan Lawrence (Taunton, Mass.) and Thomas Kierce (Cohasset, Mass.) combined for the final four frames, holding Plymouth State to just one run and three hits.

  • UMass Boston got on the board early, plating two runs in the second. Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.) was hit by a pitch and scored on an infield single by Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.). Farnacci later scored on a wild pitch to give the Beacons a 2-0 lead.

  • Plymouth State answered with a solo home run and an RBI double in the third to tie it 2-2, but the Beacons responded immediately. Mike Meagher (Marston's Mills, Mass.) and Miles reached base, and Levine drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Breon Parker (Springfield, Mass.) added an RBI single, and Farnacci's second hit—combined with a Panther error—brought home another to make it 5-2.

  • The Panthers chipped away with another solo homer in the fourth, but UMass Boston extended the lead in the bottom half as Miles ripped a two-run double to right-center, pushing the score to 7-3.

  • After a third Plymouth solo homer in the fifth, the Beacons answered again. Parker walked, stole second, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bostyn Burris (Highland Village, Texas) to make it 8-4.

  • UMass Boston tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and eighth on sac flies from Richard Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) and Miles, extending the lead to 10-4.

  • Plymouth State added a run in the ninth, but Kierce induced a groundout to end the game and lock in the 10-5 victory.

By the Numbers

  • Elliot Miles led the offense with three RBIs and now tops the LEC with 31 on the season.

  • All nine Beacon starters reached base, with the team drawing 12 total walks.
