BOSTON, MA (March 27, 2025) – In their return to Monan Park following back-to-back road games earlier in the week, the UMass Boston baseball team (11-6) portrayed dominance with a 13-0 shutout victory over the Western New England Golden Bears. Breon Parker (Springfield, Mass.) and Justin Gouveia (Dartmouth, Mass.) combined for seven of the Beacons' 12 RBIs, with Parker hitting his third double of the season and Gouveia going yard for the first time this year, marking the 10th homer of his career.
The Beacons used three pitchers in the win, with Tristan Ciampa (Wilmington, Mass.) making his highly anticipated return to the mound following 10 months of recovery from Tommy John surgery. He pitched three solid innings, striking out two against 13 batters, and allowed just three hits in a shutout performance. Left-hander Keenan Metrick (Malvern, Penn.) pitched the fifth through eighth innings, earning his first win of the season. He faced 15 batters, allowed just one hit, and struck out a team-high five batters, also holding the Golden Bears scoreless. Ethan Nowak (Hampton, N.H.) closed out the game, pitching the final two innings. He faced seven batters, struck out four, and allowed no runs or hits to seal the win for the Beacons.
