Boston, MA (Feb. 21, 2025) --- The UMass Boston Beacons came from behind to defeat the Huskies of Southern Maine 3-2 Saturday night thanks to a third period push.
How it Happened
The Beacons came out dominant, but it was Kayde Kinaschuk on the Huskies who struck first in the second period of action. Through two periods of action the Beacons outshot the Huskies 39 to 21 but wouldn't see a result until the 10:46 mark when Jazz Krivtsov, making his return to the ice, would score the equalizer while on the power play. The Beacons would ride the momentum with Jack Mortson scoring less than three minutes later, assisted by Michael Krupinski and Evan Googins. With the goalie pulled, it was deja vu for Jude Kurtas when he scored an empty net goal from nearly the entire length of the ice. With under a minute remaining in regulation Ethan MacDuff pulled the Huskies within one, but Tyler Bosch and the defense held strong to secure the win.
