BOSTON, Mass. (December 6, 2025) — The UMass Boston men's ice hockey team (5-4-0, 2-2-0 LEC) closed out the 2025 portion of its schedule in dominant fashion, rolling to a convincing win over Roger Williams (3-7-0) Saturday night at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
Junior right wing Chris Repmann (Middletown, N.J.) led the charge with three goals, recording the Beacons' first hat trick of the season. Rookie Matthew Sullivan (Hingham, Mass.) added four assists, as UMass Boston's third line overwhelmed the Hawks throughout the contest.
Michael Lynch (Stoneham, Mass.), Jakub Teply (Stamford, Conn.), Chris Merryman (Peabody, Mass.) and Jack Mortson (Detroit, Mich.) also tallied goals in the victory. In net, sophomore Connor McDonough (Mendham, N.J.) was steady, stopping 32 shots.
The Beacons controlled the pace of play all evening, outshooting the Hawks 50-33 and doubling Roger Williams' shot totals in both the first and third periods.
"I want to give credit to Roger Williams," said head coach Peter Belisle. "For a team made up mostly of freshmen, they played well and skated hard until the end. That program has a very bright future."
UMass Boston will now take a short break before returning to the ice in the 60th Annual Codfish Bowl, set for January 2-3 at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. The Beacons will be joined by Worcester State, MCLA, and Western New England in the historic tournament.
"It's going to be a special time," Belisle added. "This is the second-oldest college hockey tournament in the country, and for the 60th edition to feature all Massachusetts teams is something special. It's also a tournament we haven't had a lot of success in recently, despite being the host. Winning it is something we want to and need to accomplish."
Belisle also praised his team's effort in the finale of 2025.
"I thought we played well. I'm proud of the guys for this performance, and I want this win to propel our team into the new year."
