BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 2, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons men's ice hockey team (6-4-0, 2-2-0 LEC) defeated the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (3-6-2, 2-2-1 MASCAC) 4-2 to open the 60th annual Codfish Bowl at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. Three different Beacons found the back of the net, led by a two-goal performance from Chris Repmann (Middletown, N.J.).
Tyler Drummond (Baldwin, N.Y.) opened the scoring for the Beacons less than a minute into the first period, assisted by Jack Mortson (Detroit, Mich.) and Jude Kurtas (Hillsborough, N.J.). Repmann doubled UMass Boston's lead, with assists from Rhett Kodsi (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Chris Merryman (Peabody, Mass.) to take a 2-0 lead entering the first intermission.
UMass Boston held the advantage in shots on goal, 15-5. Freshman goaltender Alex Koenig (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) stopped all five shots from MCLA.
The Trailblazers cut the deficit to 2-1 halfway through the second period on a breakaway, but Jakub Teply (Samford, Conn.) answered back, putting UMass Boston back up 3-1 on the power play, with assists from Jacob Roberson (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Zander Lizotte (Scarborough, Maine).
The first 17 minutes of the third period were scoreless, as both teams ramped up the pressure in the offensive zone. At 18:36, Repmann scored his second goal of the game on an empty net, sealing the win for the Beacons. However, MCLA scored a late power play goal at 19:45, which cut the deficit to 4-2, but UMass Boston managed to hang on to the win.
The Beacons outshot the Trailblazers 44-22, with Koenig stopping 20. Dylan Robbins (New York, N.Y.) and Mortson won a combined 20 faceoffs as UMass Boston held the advantage, 39-19.

The Beacons are back in action tomorrow in the championship game, where they will play the winner of Western New England and Worcester State. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
