BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Boston women's basketball team saw its unbeaten start to the 2025-26 season come to an end on Wednesday night, falling in its Little East Conference opener to the reigning LEC Tournament Runner-Up at the Clark Gymnasium. The Beacons were held under 50 points for the first time this season.
Both teams struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, trading baskets throughout a tightly contested first quarter. UMass Boston tied the game with one minute remaining, but the Huskies seized momentum in the second period. UMass Boston went cold from the field, while the visitors found their groove, outscoring the Beacons 19–9 to take a 12-point lead into halftime.
The Huskies continued to extend the margin in the third quarter, opening with a 17–10 run to push the lead to 19 entering the final frame.
UMass Boston closed the night with a strong push, outscoring the Huskies 14–12 in the fourth quarter, but the comeback effort came up short as the Beacons dropped their first game of the season.
Sophomore Tajeiha Madison (Brockton, Mass.) led the Beacons offensively, tying her career high with 13 points on four made field goals, including three from beyond the arc, and a pair of free throws.
UMass Boston returns to LEC action on Saturday, December 6, when it travels to Keene, N.H. for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off against the Keene State Owls.
