BOSTON, MA (November 23, 2025) — UMass Boston women's ice hockey (4-2-0, 3-2-0 LEC) split its weekend doubleheader, earning an overtime victory at VTSU Castleton (3-5-0, 2-3 LEC) before falling to No. 9 Norwich University (5-2-0, 5-0 LEC) during its annual Faceoff Against Cancer game at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
Friday vs. VTSU Castleton: UMB 3 – VTSU 2 (OT)
After a scoreless opening period, the Spartans struck first 16 minutes into the second. UMass Boston responded in the third with a goal from first-year Aisling McFadden (Erie, Pa.), her second of the season.
Castleton regained the lead on a power-play goal, but senior Emily Hansen (Lake Villa, Ill.) answered with a clutch equalizer with five minutes remaining to force overtime.
In the extra period, Rae Alexander (Georgia, Vt.) buried the game-winner just two minutes into play, lifting the Beacons to their second overtime win of the season.
Saturday vs. No. 9 Norwich: UMB 0 – Norwich 3
UMass Boston hosted its annual Faceoff Against Cancer game, raising funds for the Don Litzelman Foundation in support of families affected by cancer.
Despite the loss, goaltender Veronika Hadamovsky (Prague, Czech Republic) delivered a standout performance, recording 42 saves to keep the Beacons within striking distance against a high-powered Cadets team.
Up next, the Beacons host the 18th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl beginning Saturday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m., welcoming Manhattanville University, Bowdoin College, and William Smith College to the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
