Boston, MA (Oct. 8, 2025) — The UMass Boston Beacons fell to the No. 8 nationally ranked Brandeis Judges, 3-0, on Wednesday night at home.
With multiple injuries to the Beacons' goalkeeping unit, Avery Weinstein made an unexpected — and impressive — debut in net. A middle infielder for the LEC champion UMass Boston softball team, Weinstein stepped in just hours before kickoff and recorded 15 saves in her first collegiate soccer appearance.
Facing a high-powered Brandeis attack, Weinstein showed poise and athleticism throughout the match, helping keep the Beacons competitive in front of a supportive home crowd.
Despite the loss, UMass Boston displayed depth and resilience, rotating in 24 different players as the team tested new combinations and gained valuable experience.
