Danbury, CT (Oct. 4, 2025) --- Despite a stunning goal in the final ten minutes by Sofia Roberts—her second of the season and first in conference play—the Beacons fell to Western Connecticut State University, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.
UMass Boston led in total shots (18-11) and shots on goal (10-7), but nine saves by Wolves goalkeeper Gracen Regan kept the Beacons off the scoreboard until the 80th minute. That's when Roberts delivered a highlight-reel strike from 20 yards out, rocketing the ball into the top right corner of the net.
Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Beacons came out aggressively in the second half, forcing seven saves and earning four corner kicks, but were unable to close the gap.
