North Dartmouth, Mass. (Oct. 22, 2025) — The UMass Boston Beacons nearly ended UMass Dartmouth's 12-match winning streak but came up just short, falling 3–2 in a thrilling five-set match.
UMass Boston opened strong, taking the first set 25–21. The Corsairs bounced back to edge out the second set 25–23, but the Beacons responded with a dramatic 26–24 win in the third to regain the lead. The home team forced a decisive fifth set with a 25–20 victory in the fourth.
In the final set, UMass Dartmouth jumped out to a 2–0 lead before a pair of Corsair errors and kills from Mya Perron and Addie Blomgren gave the Beacons a 4–2 advantage. The teams traded points and were tied at 6–6 and 7–7 before the Corsairs pulled ahead for good, closing out the match 15–9.
Statistically, the teams were nearly identical, each recording 54 kills. The Corsairs held slim advantages in aces (6–5), blocks (9–7), assists (52–48), and digs (86–85), making it one of the closest contests of the season.
Mary Denny led the Beacons with 13 kills and 14.5 points, while Audrey Cofield notched another double-double with 41 assists and 20 digs. UMass Dartmouth finished with a slight edge in hitting efficiency, .162 to UMass Boston's .112.
