Boston, MA (Jan. 25, 2025) --- The UMass Boston Beacons defeated the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College 3-1, improving to fifth in the New England Hockey Conference standings.
How it Happened
Cassidy Morrison scored the first shorthanded goal of the season and of her career to put the Beacons in the early lead. The first goal of the game marked Morrison's team leading fifth goal of the season. Sophomore, Gianna Skrelja doubled the lead before the end of the first, assisted by Mia Boyd and Allie Reifler on the power play.
Neither team would find the back of the net in the second, with Veronika Hadamovsky making six saves for the Beacons and Christmas Johnson collecting thirteen for the Falcons.
The Falcons would find their loan goal of the game on the power play in the third period when Gabriella Dellacroce, assisted by Molly Martin, snuck the puck past Hadamovsky. The Falcons would try for a late push to equalize, but the Beacons were up to the task. Allie Reifler collected the puck from Emily Hansen, scoring her second goal of the season on the empty net to give the Beacons the 3-1 win.
