Castleton, VT (Jan. 25, 2025) --- The UMass Boston men's ice hockey team defeated the Spartans of Vermont State University Castleton 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
In a rematch of last night's game, the Spartans were the first to get on the scoreboard, but just like last night, the lead was short lived when Chris Repmann scored his first of the game and third of the weekend to level the score.
Senior captain, Kolye Bankauskas, assisted by Jude Kurtas and Kevin Sadovski, put the Beacons in front in the second, but the Spartans were there to answer, sending the teams tied at two heading into the third.
The third period started with Jack Mortson scoring his eighth goal of the season to put the Beacons up 3-2, but a power play and even strength goal gave the Spartans the lead at 15:56. With the Beacons on their own power play, Jack Ford scored his third goal of the weekend and first of the game to bring the teams level at four. With only ten seconds remaining in the game, the Beacons would find the game winning goal thanks to Michael Krupinski, assisted by Chris Repmann and Michael Lynch.
