Men’s Hockey Defeats Spartans in Shootout

Castleton, VT (Jan. 24, 2025) --- The Beacons secured the road NEHC victory over the Spartans in a shootout Friday night after scoring five in regulation.

How it Happened

Chance Heaphy from Vermont State University Castleton was the first to score at 3:19 into the game, but it was a short-lived lead as Jack Ford scored his first goal of the season less than three minutes later. The Beacons would take the lead in the first thanks to a Chris Repmann goal, his second of the season, assisted by Kolye Bankauskas and Michael Krupinski

Repmann would score his second of the game and third of the season to start the second period for the Beacons before Ford notched his second to bring the score to 4-1. Aiden Robson of Castleton would cut the Beacons lead in half with 16 second remaining in the second.

Jacob Roberson and the Beacons would once again start the scoring to begin the third period, but the Spartans would mount a comeback to tie the game 5-5 in regulation.

Neither team would find the game winner in overtime, forcing the shootout. Tyler Drummond and Jude Kurtas converted their chances, giving the Beacons the shootout victory in NEHC play.
