Norton, MA (Sep. 8, 2024) -- The UMass Boston men's soccer team came from behind to secure a 1-1 tie with Wheaton College.
After giving up a goal in the 31st minute of the first half to Leao Nelson, the Beacons turned up the pressure in the second half. Goalkeeper for the Lyons, Michael O'Gara was awarded a red card following a play with a Beacons striker and the ball. The ensuing free kick didn't provide the equalizer, but later in the half the Beacons found their chance. In the 64th minute, Logan Erickson Potter carried the ball down the left side of the field and sent a cross to sophomore forward John Arruda, who netted the goal.

After only managing one shot on target in the first half, the Beacons came out firing in the second half putting seven shots on frame.
In goal, Andy Ramirez made five saves, bringing his early season total to 13 with a .814 SV%.
