Women’s Tennis Hits the Road for Next Two Matches

Boston, MA (Sep. 26, 2024) --- The UMass Boston women's tennis team will look to rebound from their 6-1 loss vs Simmons University when they travel to North Dartmouth, Massachusetts to take on LEC opponent UMass Dartmouth before traveling to Dudley, Mass to compete against non-conference foe Nichols College. 

The Basics 

  • UMass Boston: 4-1 Overall, 2-0 in Conference (LEC) 

  • UMass Dartmouth: 5-3 Overall, 2-0 in Conference (LEC) 

  • Nichols: 4-1 Overall, 2-0 Conference (CNE) 

UMass Boston 

The Beacons were voted unanimous favorites to repeat as LEC Women's Tennis Champions in the LEC Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Beacs defeated Plymouth State University 7-2 to start the season and picked up the win over Vermont State University Castleton 7-2 as well. 

UMass Dartmouth 

The Beacons will travel to Dartmouth, Massachusetts Saturday, September 28th for a 12pm start. The Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth were picked to finish 4th out of 9 in the LEC Preseason Coaches' Poll collecting 42 points. In Little East Conference play they defeated Vermont State Castleton (7-2) and Plymouth State University (5-4). They are on a three-match losing streak heading into this matchup. 

Nichols 

The Beacons will travel to Nichols on Monday for a 3:30pm start time. Their one loss was from Wellesley College where they were shutout 7-0. Nichols University was picked to finish 2nd in the Conference of New England 2024 Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll collecting 2 first place votes and expected to finish behind Endicott. They have conference victories over Roger Williams University (6-1) and Western New England University (6-1). Kamora Helton has seen success in both of those matchups in #1 Doubles and #1 Singles.
