Northampton, MA (Sep. 21, 2024) --- The UMass Boston Beacons dropped three sets to a nearly unblemished Smith College Pioneers team Saturday.
The Beacons kept each set close (25-21, 25-18, 25-21), but were unable to get over the 21-point hump vs the Pioneers. The Beacons move to 7-5 on the season while Smith College moves to 11-1 overall.
The Beacons did well to limit the Pioneers success on the service line, holding the advantage 6-5 and making just 3 service errors to the Pioneers 11. Addie Blomgren collected 4 service aces in the match while Lauren Westlund led the Beacons in points with 9.

"We fought hard and played for each other which I am very proud of. Smith College is a strong competitor and was the better team today. We're ready to get back after it in the gym this week as we have one more opponent on Wednesday before LEC play begins." - Stacy Cheney, Head Coach
