WELLESLEY, MA (September 11, 2024) – The UMass Boston women's soccer team remains unbeaten following a 1-1 draw against the Wellesley College Blues from Wellesley, MA on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
The Beacons opened scoring early on in the contest, just four minutes into play, when first-year midfielder Lucinda Cotter (North Easton, Mass.) found twine on a solo breakaway with a cool, calm, and collected right foot strike to slot home the Beacons' only goal of the day.

The Blues would spend the rest of the game clawing out of the hole the Beacons put them in. With time expiring, the Blues would find gold with a feed from standout first-year Isabella Tolosa to find sophomore Solveig Unteroberdoerster to even the scoring with just under ten minutes remaining.

Inside the Box Score
The Beacons outperformed the Blues offensively with a 18-12 shot advantage (8-6 shots on target), while also owning the possession game for most of the matchup, as the Beacons totaled seven corner kicks to the Blues' zero. Junior midfielder Andrea Rivera (San Juan, P.R) led the way for UMass Boston offensively with a team-high five shots, and two shots on target. Senior goalkeeper for UMass Boston Isabella O'Connell played all 9- minutes between the posts and recorded five saves to bring her season record to 2-0-1. O'Connell, along with sophomore Chloe Kapetanakos (Weymouth, Mass.) and Caileigh Sullivan (Marshfield, Mass.) each earned their off day following a full 90 minutes of action on the field.
