BOSTON, MA ( April 10, 2024) – The UMass Boston Beacons baseball squad picks up their 15
th win on the season following a 12-5 finish after nine innings from Adams Field in Boston, MA against the Rams of Suffolk University on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior
Ross Dexter started on the mound for the Beacons, and threw for 5.2 innings while striking out five and only allowing one run to come across through 93 pitches thrown. Seniors
Logan Lawrence,
Ethan Errera, and
Brendan Ferrari each came in for one inning to close out the final three innings. As a team, the Beacons' bullpen combined for eight total Ks in the effort.
From the batter's box, Senior
Bostyn Burris led the team with four hits in five plate appearances, including two runs and two RBIs.First-year
Brandon Gaer also got into his groove from the plate, swinging for extra bases on two hits in four appearances to go with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Burris and Gaer each recorded doubles, with Gaer tallying a triple in the third inning. First-year
Elliot Miles and junior catcher
Mike Meagher each recorded two stolen bases to combine for four of the six stolen bases for the Beacons.
The Beacons propelled themselves to victory following the wave of momentum from the Beacs' third, sixth, and ninth-inning rallies. UMass Boston scored six runs in the third inning to open up the score sheet. A triple in the gap in right-center field allowed sophomore
Justin Gouveia to bring home Miles and sophomore
Max Garner. Burris' double in the third inning would drive in the Beacons' fourth run of the inning, as he scored senior
Aidan Blake from third. Gaer would bring Blake home with his triple to the gap in right-center field, followed by Meagher singling to third to score Gaer for the final run of the inning.
The Beacons tallied two more in the sixth inning off a double steal with runners at the corners for Meagher to take home plate, followed by Garner's sacrifice fly for Miles to tag up and score.
The Beacons added three more runs in the top of the ninth for good measure off RBIs from Gaer, senior
Luke Leavitt, and sophomore
Ben Cherry, as the Beacons put the Rams away 12-5 following nine innings.
The Beacons, now 15-8, will take back Monan Park tomorrow, Thursday at 3:00 pm against the Rams in the second part of a back-to-back vs Suffolk University. Live stats and video coverage can be found here at
