Baseball Takes Game Two vs Suffolk Following 5-4 Victory At Home

BOSTON, MA (April 11, 2024) – The UMass Boston baseball team won the ninth of their last ten games following the Beacons' game two victory over the Rams of Suffolk University from the Beacs' home stadium of Monan Park in Boston, MA.

The Beacons had a bullpen day over the Rams, sending nine different pitchers to the mound for action in the 5-4 victory over the Rams. Thomas Kierce started on the bump for UMass Boston and was the only pitcher to see two innings of action, as Kierce was credited with his second win in three games. Kierce faced seven batters and struck out six of them on just 34 pitches thrown. Senior Tim Cianciolo came in to pitch to close the game out in the top of the ninth inning as he would be credited for his second save of the season.

As a team, the Beacons provided five runs on as many hits. Senior Aidan Blake and sophomore Max Garner led the team offensively, each recording two hits. Blake batted in two runs off a double in the first inning for a team-high in RBIs.

The Beacs used Blake's two-run RBI double in the first inning and rode that wave of momentum, adding two more in the bottom of the first. The Beacons' third run was scored by Blake who was batted in by an RBI single by senior Bostyn Burris. Burris would score the final run of the inning off an RBI single to right center by sophomore Max Garner. The Beacons' final run of the game was batted in by Garner, whose ground ball back to the pitcher forced an error to bring across first-year Elliot Miles, as the Beacons would once again Protect Monan Park for their 16th win of the season.

The Beacons improve to 16-8 overall i,  this year's campaign, with their next matchup slated for Saturday, April 13th against Little East Conference opponents the Owls of Keene State in a conference doubleheader, as they look to protect home field once again from Monan Park. Game one is scheduled to start at 12:00pm. For live stats and video coverage, visit UMass Boston - Official Athletics Website (sidearmsports.com).
