HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Panthers erased four straight UMass Boston leads to open the game, the Beacons were able to build out a five-point lead behind a three-pointer, midrange jumper, and made free throw from
Sophie Bradbury. Seven straight points to close out the quarter gave the Panthers a narrow 19-17 lead.Â
After a quick Plymouth State bucket put them down four to open the second, the Beacons exploded for eight straight points behind a pair of
Keriann Farina layups sandwiched by a score apiece from
Skyeler Sandison and
Maddie Parks. The Panthers nipped at the heels of the Beacons throughout the frame, but Bradbury's prolific three-point shooting sent the visitors into the break with a 31-28 advantage.
In the third,
Paige Olliverre joined Bradbury's party with a three-pointer of her own. Behind strong outside shooting and five straight points from
Mia Molinari, the Beacons lead ballooned to 45-37 at the end of the third.Â
Plymouth State came out strong on offense in the fourth. An 8-0 run to open the quarter knotted the game at 45 points a side. After breaking the tie with just over four minutes left to play, the Panthers did not surrender the lead, closing out the 57-54 comeback victory.
