Offensive Flurry Lifts Beacons over Thoroughbreds

Boston, MA (Dec. 6, 2024) --- The UMass Boston Beacons defeated the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College by a score of 6-3 Friday night thanks in large part to the Beacons play on special teams, scoring 2 goals on the power play and 2 goals shorthanded.

How it Happened

The Beacons and Thoroughbreds traded goals in quick succession in the first period, with the Beacons scoring first off the stick of Jakob Teply (assisted by Kevin Sadovski and Jack Mortson). About 30 seconds later Cooper Rice of Skidmore would tie it up at 1.

The second and third period was all Beacons. Jazz Krivtsov (assisted by Jude Kurtas and Chris Merryman) scored the only other even strength goal for the Beacons before Zander Lizotte got the first powerplay goal at 11:07 assisted by Kurtas and Krivtsov. Ethan Heidepriem would pull Skidmore to within 1 to end the 2nd period, but the Beacons blew the doors off in the 3rd scoring three goals – 2 of which were shorthanded – to give the Beacons the win.
