BOSTON, MASS. (December 4, 2024) – On Wednesday evening, the UMass Boston women's basketball team was outlasted on their home court in a Little East Conference matchup against the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen.
The Basics:

How it Happened:
- First-year forward Ashleigh Lagor (Millbury, Mass.) got the ball rolling for UMass Boston with the first basket of the game inside the paint. Junior captain Beeban Jikiemi Pearson (BJP) (London, Eng.) followed up on the next possession with a shot from downtown to keep things level at five. By the end of the first quarter, the Anchorwomen had sprung out to an eight-point advantage
- A slow start from UMass Boston in the second allowed Rhode Island College to expand their lead into the halftime break.
- Sophomore LEC Rookie of the Week Hialeah Turner-Foster (Mashpee, Mass.) initiated the second half for the Beacons off a good jumper from mid-range. Turner-Foster and sophomore Mia Molinari (Millis, Mass.) traded baskets in the second quarter to combine for seven points. Sophomore forward Samora Merchant (Brookfield, Conn.) closed out the quarter on a pair of free throws and a made basket in the paint.
- First-year Tajeiha Madison (Brockton, Mass.) closed out the scoresheet for UMass Boston with the game's final basket off the dime from BJP.
By the Numbers:
- Turner-Foster once again led the team in scoring off the bench with 12 points to go with two steals. BJP and junior guard Tatiannah Fevry (Dracut, Mass.) combined for 18 points. Fevry was a pest on the defensive end with a game-high four steals. Merchant pulled in a team-high eight rebounds to go with her five points.
