DAYTONA BEACH, FLA (December 29, 2024) – The Beacons women's basketball team concluded their weekend in Florida with a valiant effort in the Ocean Center against the Amherst College Mammoths, a team currently receiving votes on the
d3hoops.com top 25 index, but ultimately fell short and concluded their weekend 1-1 from the sunshine state.
The Basics:
UMass Boston 30 – 68 Amherst College
UMass Boston: 3-8 (1-2 Little East Conference)
Amherst College: 9-2 (0-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference, NESCAC)
How it Happened:
- The Beacons felt the pressure of the Mammoths early on. Junior guard Tatiannah Fevry (Dracut, Mass.) opened scoring for the Beacons with a mid-range jumper. Junior captain Beeban Jikiemi Pearson (BJP) (London, Eng.) ended the quarter with a layup to finish the fastbreak transition off the steal from first-year Tajeiha Madison (Brockton, Mass.) and dish by Samora Merchant (Brookfield, Conn.).
- Several unlucky bounces kept the Beacons from gaining any ground in the second quarter, as the Mammoths ultimately ran away with a significant lead for the remainder of the game.
- Sophomore forward Mia Molinari (Millis, Mass.) would score the final bucket for the Beacons in the sunshine state with a layup, as UMass Boston finished their weekend 1-1 from the Florida Sunshine Shootout Tournament.
By the Box:
- Molinari scored a season-high six points to tie Fevry as the scoring leaders for the Beacons. Fevry continued her streak of two or more steals with another two swipes against the Mammoths. She also led the team in rebounds with six.

- The Beacons pack it in and head back to Massachusetts for their next matchup following the New Year on Saturday afternoon, January 4 against the Fitchburg State Falcons in Fitchburg, MA.
