Boston, MA (Nov. 22, 2024) --- The UMass Boston Beacons men's ice hockey team defeated the Pilgrims of New England College 4-2 Friday night to get their first win of the 2024-25 season.
How it Happened
The Beacons peppered the Pioneers in the first period forcing Anthony Beaulieu to make 17 saves, but the Beacons were able to get a shorthanded goal thanks to Jack Mortson, his third goal of the season.
Koyle Bankauskas, assisted by Jazz Krivtsov, doubled the Beacons lead in the second period. Tyler Bost came up big in the second frame making 17 saves to keep New England College off the board.
The Pilgrims would end up scoring the first goal of the third but wouldn't be able to hold any momentum as Krivtsov made it 3-1 and Michael Lynch scored his first career goal, an empty netter, shorthanded to bring the Beacons to 4. Sibley Gunnar would get one more for the Pilgrims on the power play before time expired, but it was too little too late.
