Beacons Light too Bright for Pilgrims

BOSTON, MA (November 23rd, 2024)  UMass Boston Beacons shine was too bright for the New England College Pilgrims to stay in the game this weekend as UMass earned back-to-back victories over their conference opponent. Following three periods of intense competition, the Beacons ended the weekend with a 3-0 win.

The Basics:
Final Score: Beacons 3 - 0 Pilgrims
UMass Boston: 2-5-0 (2-4-0)
New England College: 1-4-1 (1-2-1)

How It Happened:
  • The scoreless first period had the Beacons seeking a score in the second. After 12 shot attempts, the Beacons found the back of the net with 7 minutes to go in the second period.
  • Starting the third period ahead 1-0, UMass Boston continued to stay aggressive with the puck and the opposition. With tensions rising and 58 minutes played, the Beacons scored their second goal following the Pilgrims pulling of their keeper.
  • Similarly, the third and final goal of the night slid nearly the entire length of the ice to fall into an open net. Giving UMass Boston a 3 to nothing win over NEC.
  • Jude Kurtas (Hillsborough, N.J.) was involved in all 3 goals by the Beacon's, either as the first or second assister.

Who's Next?
  • Beacons will aim to keep the streak alive as they go on the road for a match against the Mules of Colby College. This away game is set for November 30th in Waterville, Maine with puck drop at 4:00 in the afternoon.
