Boston, MA (Oct. 8, 2024) --- The UMass Boston women's tennis team took down the Bears of Bridgewater State University 6-3 to move to 6-0 in LEC play and cementing no worse than a 2nd place finish in the conference.
Doubles
Doubles continued to be a strength for the Beacons, winning each of their doubles matches. The #1 Doubles pairing of Zainab Patel and Lydia Chan defeated Madeline Von Ruden and Mackenzie Silveira 8-3. In #2 Doubles, seniors Ayonna Stuppard and Elena Albano won 8-2 against Aislyn Kelliher and Morgan Smith. In #3 Doubles, Sandra Watson and Tatiana Malone closed out the 8-5 win over Meghan Lotti and Samantha Bettencourt to give the Beacons the full sweep at doubles.
Singles
Senior leadership proved invaluable in singles with Chan, Stuppard, and Albano winning their matches in the first, second, and third spots. Chan, in #1 Singles, beat Madeline Von Ruden in three: 4-6, 7-5, 11-9. Ayonna Stuppard faced off against Mackenzie Silveira not allowing her opponent to get a single game point, winning 6-0, 6-0. Elena Albano was nearly perfect against Meghan Lotti winning efficiently with a 6-1, 6-0 score.
