Boston, MA (Oct. 4, 2024) --- The UMass Boston women's tennis team returns home to face off against two LEC opponents. On Saturday the Beacons will host the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College at the Weymouth Club for Senior Day at 6pm. Tuesday, October 8th, the Beacons will then play host to Bridgewater State University at the BC High Tennis Courts at 3:30pm. 

The Basics 

UMass Boston: 7-2 (Overall), 4-0 (Conference) 

Rhode Island College: 13-0 (Overall), 6-0 (Conference) 

Bridgewater State University: 6-2 (Overall), 4-1 (Conference) 

Beacons 

• The Beacons are undefeated in conference play, defeating the University of Southern Maine 8-1, UMass Dartmouth 8-1, Vermont State University Castleton 7-2, and Plymouth State University 7-2. 

• UMass Boston was picked to finish first in LEC Women's Tennis 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• The Beacons are coming off their closest game of the season, a 4-3 win over Western New England University on the road. 

• The Beacons have only played one home match but are undefeated 1-0 at the BC High School Tennis Courts. 

Anchorwomen 

• Rhode Island College was picked to finish 2nd in the LEC Women's Tennis 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• The Anchorwomen are undefeated so far this season and are coming off their closest match of the season, a 5-2 win over the University of Saint Joseph. 

• A number of Anchorwomen have received LEC weekly awards. Lauren Macera has garnered Player of the Week honors twice while freshmen Haylie Peacock and Arianna De Thomas have both received Rookie of the Week honors twice as well. 

Bears 

• The Bears of Bridgewater State were picked to finish 3rd in the LEC Women's Tennis 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• Madeline Von Ruden has won LEC Player of the Week honors once this season.  

• The Bears are 4-0 at home but have struggled on the road with a 2-2 record away from home.
