Boston, MA (Oct. 18, 2024) --- The No. 1 UMass Boston women's tennis team will look to three-peat as Little East Conference Champions when they take on 2nd seed, Rhode Island College on Saturday at the Weymouth Club; match action scheduled to start at 7pm.
This is the third consecutive year the Beacons and Anchorwomen will face off against each other for the league title. Last year, the Beacons came out victorious with a 5-0 win.
To get here, UMass Boston ran the table in conference play going a perfect 8-0 before post season play. After the earned bye in the first round, the Beacons faced Plymouth State Thursday at Curry College, winning the semifinal 5-0 and taking them to the Championship match.
The Beacons have started their matches strong in doubles, not allowing a single point against any team the past two matches – versus Western Connecticut State and Plymouth State. In their match vs Rhode Island earlier this month, the Beacons swept Doubles, however each match was highly contested.
Rhode Island College meanwhile finished conference 7-1, with their lone loss coming from the Beacons 4-5 on October 5th. That match was also hosted by the Beacons at the Weymouth Club.
