Boston, MA (Oct. 1, 2024) --- The Beacons of UMass Boston will look to right the ship following their 6-1 non-conference loss to Nichols College when they travel to Gorham, Maine to face LEC foe the University of Southern Maine before they compete in another non-conference match vs Western New England University on Thursday. 

The Basics 

Beacons: 5-2 (Overall), 3-0 (LEC Conference) 

Huskies: 0-6 (Overall), 0-4 (LEC Conference) 

Golden Bears: 2-4 (Overall), 0-3 (CNE Conference) 

Beacons 

• Elena Albano saw the lone victories in both doubles and singles action Monday versus Nichols after defeating Cora Brosch in #4 Singles and teaming up with Ayonna Stuppard to take down Charis Vogler and Cora Brosch in #2 Doubles. 

• The Beacons are undefeated in conference play, defeating UMass Dartmouth 8-1, Vermont State University Castleton 7-2, and Plymouth State University 7-2. 

• The Beacons match vs Western New England University will be their last non-conference opponent as they head into the last half of LEC matches. 

• Picked to finish first in LEC Women's Tennis 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll 

Huskies 

• The Huskies of the University of Southern Maine were picked to finish 9th in the LEC Women's Tennis 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• They have competed against LEC opponents Bridgewater State University (0-9), Rhode Island College (0-9), Salem State University (0-9), and Vermont State University Castleton (0-9). 

Golden Bears 

• Western New England University was picked to finish 5th in the Conference of New England 2024 Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• In their last and only meeting with the Beacons, the Golden Bears came away victorious with a 5-4 win on March 17, 2014.
