BOSTON, Mass. - UMass Boston Women's Volleyball put on a pair of clinics on Saturday afternoon, hosting local children for a free lesson after dominating the visiting Salem State Vikings in a 3-0 sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salem State gave the hosts a run for their money in the opening set of Saturday's match. The Beacons found themselves in a 19-19 tie late in the set.
Dylan Wertzberger led the close out for UMass Boston, providing three kills over the course of a 6-1 run to finish off the set 25-20.

Paige Coulson helped the Beacons open up a commanding 20-10 lead in the second set. The Vikings, however, remained persistent, cutting the lead in half with a 5-0 run of their own.
With their lead dwindling late
Dylan Wertzberger provided the spark once again, registering three more late kills to secure the set by a score of 25-20.
By the third set, the Beacons were in their rhythm and looked to be unstoppable, opening up a 17-1 lead en route to a 25-6 victory. The Vikings did not string together more than two points in a row during the entire set.
BY THE NUMBERS
- As a team, the Beacons recorded 41 kills to just 15 for the Vikings and 40 assists to 14
- For the third time in five matches, the freshman Perron led the Beacons in kills, recording 13 on Saturday
- Ruby Ackerman paced the team with 22 assists on the afternoon
- Six of the Beacons' nine wins have come via the sweep
- UMass Boston's 12 service aces were their most in a sweep this season
- The Beacons have now won five straight matches against the Vikings, all of them via the sweep
WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will hit the road to face UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, October 4. The team lost their regular season matchup with their in-state rivals in 2022 but avenged the loss with a victory in the LEC tournament.
