HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening set, a pair of
Dylan Wertzberger kills helped the Beacons narrow the late UMass Dartmouth lead to 19-12. The Corsairs, however, were quick with the response, ripping off a 6-1 run to close out the set 25-13.
The second set saw another Beacon run cut a late deficit from 19-10 to 19-14 behind kills from Wertzberger and
Livia Trindade. Once again, the comeback attempt was not to be as the Corsairs finished off the set with a 6-0 run.Â
The third set of the night was the tightest of the night. Kills from Wertzberger and
Lauren Westlund cut the UMass Dartmouth lead to 17-14. The two teams traded blows late but ultimately it was the Corsairs who took the set and the match, 25-18.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Wertzberger led her squad with six kills, seven match points, and 13 digs
- Ruby Ackerman and Amelia Devlin each finished with a team-high nine assists
- The Beacons are 3-3 in their last six matchups with the Corsairs, dropping their record in the all-time series to 18-24
