Women's Tennis Continues LEC Dominance Against VTSU Castleton


CASTLETON, V.T. - UMass Boston Women's Tennis continued their dominance in Little East Conference play on Tuesday afternoon, walking to an 8-1 road victory over VTSU Castleton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons got off to a strong start once again on Tuesday, sweeping their doubles sets for the second straight match. The combination of Zainab Patel and Shreya Saravana Rakshana were the first to finish their matchup, winning 8-2. Kaya-Lilliana Rutkowski and Sandra Watson defeated their VTSU counterparts 8-3 before the dynamic duo of Elena Albano and Ayonna Stuppard finished off the sweep by the same score.

Needing a pair of points from singles matches to secure the victory, the Beacons got a strong start from Patel, who won in two sets while surrendering just a single point. The win was secured by Sandra Watson, who swept her second straight match to secure the sweep. Sarvana Rakshana and Stuppard dropped just one set each to secure their wins and Albano finished off the night with the team's eighth point of the match.
