HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a quick start for the visiting Hawks of Roger Williams on Monday night. The offensive unit dominated time of possession early and turned their first three shots on goal into scores. By the 25th minute the Beacons' deficit was already 3-0.
In the second half the teams switched sides of the field and, with the wind at their backs, the UMass Boston offense found a spark. Beating out the defense with her speed,
Kaylee Haynes turned a fast break opportunity into her fourth goal of the season, cutting the Hawks' lead to 3-1.
The Haynes goal would be the only score of the night for the Beacons as Roger Williams rolled to a 3-1 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Haynes' 21st career goal moved her into a tie with Mary Jo Murphy for the sixth most goals in program history
- The Beacons went all of Monday's game without a corner kick opportunity
- UMass Boston is now 0-2 all-time against Roger Williams
WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will travel to Dartmouth on Wednesday, September 27 to face in-state rival UMass Dartmouth in their second game of Little East Conference play.
