HOW IT HAPPENED
Fisher College came to fight on Wednesday night and showed it in the very first set, cutting the early UMass Boston lead to 11-9. The Beacons, however, responded quickly, piecing together an 8-2 run to give them a more comfortable 19-11 advantage. The Falcons continued to fight but it was the hosts who took the set thanks to a kill and service ace from Dylan Wertzberger in the late goings.

The second set of the match saw another rock fight between the two teams, with UMass Boston narrowly leading 16-15 late. Once again, it was the scrappy Beacons squad piecing together an impressive run to finish out the set. Behind a pair of kills from Lauren Westlund and a host of other contributors, the Beacons took the set 25-17.

In the third set it was Fisher College who came alive late, erasing a 19-13 deficit to pull within one point of the Beacons, 19-18. Taking over to serve, Ruby Ackerman delivered a pair of aces to help UMass Boston rip off a 6-0 run to finish off the set and the match, 25-18.
