BOSTON, Mass. - Women's Volleyball hosted Plymouth State in their Little East Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. They battled the Panthers to three close finishes, eventually falling in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening set of Saturday's match saw a the Beacons stretch an early lead to 17-12 behind a pair of forced errors. The Panthers slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually taking a 23-21 advantage.
Lauren Westlund gave the Beacons the serve with a late kill but they could not finish off the set, going on to lose 25-22.
The second set saw the Beacons battle back from an early deficit to take a 14-12 lead. An 8-0 run for the Panthers, however, put the set out of reach, helping them take the set 25-15 for a 2-0 match advantage.
The Beacons were persistent in the third set, cutting the Plymouth State lead to 22-19 late. A kill from
Ruby Ackerman kept them within striking distance, but the Panthers were able to put the finishing touches on the sweep.Â
BY THE NUMBERS
- Westlund led the Beacons with seven kills and seven total points in the match
- Amelia Devlin finished the day with 15 assists
