UMass Boston (0-4, 0-1 LEC)
WestConn (3-4, 2-0 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
With only four available players still, the Beacons had an uphill battle, trailing 3-0 after needing to forfeit two singles matches and a doubles match.

But as has been the case through the early part of the season, UMass Boston would fight for their five wins and would be led by junior transfer Patrick Ramos and freshman Maxwell Dill in the #1 Doubles as the duo moved to 3-0 in doubles play together with a tiebreaker victory over junior Kevin Tenesaca and freshman Aidan Burke, 8-7.

Graduate student Sebastian Frisch and senior Jay Kilcourse would defeat sophomores Melvin Nina and Felix Nguyen, 8-5, putting the Wolves within one win of the team victory.

Ramos would keep the Beacons alive in the #1 Singles with a 6-2 and 6-1 straight set defeat of Tenesaca, accounting for both match wins of the evening for UMass Boston.

However, Nina would fall to Burke in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-4, in the #2 Singles while Frisch would take down Dill in a three-set tiebreaker after the two sides split the first pair of sets, 6-4 and 6-2, before Frisch ultimately pulled out the win with a 10-6 third set victory in the #3 Singles.

Rounding out the victory for WestConn was Kilcourse in the #4 Singles with a pair of 6-0 set wins over Nguyen to down UMass Boston by a team final score of 7-2.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The duo of Patrick Ramos and Maxwell Dill are now 3-0 this year in the #1 Doubles
  • UMass Boston's 13-game winning streak in regular season matches was snapped with the loss, the last loss came during the 2017-18 season to WestConn, 5-4
