DANBURY, CT - UMass Boston Men's Lacrosse suffered their second consecutive loss on Wednesday evening at the hands of the WestConn Wolves, losing by a final score of 18-13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a battle for seeding in the upcoming Little East Conference tournament, the Beacons opened up with a bang. Back-to-back unassisted goals by
Charlie Chapman put the visitors ahead 2-0 with 13:41 left to play in the first.
The Wolves were quick to strike back, however, tying the game at 2-2 at the 9:46 mark and taking the lead 25 seconds later with a man-up goal, 3-2.
A
Luke Murphy assist set up the LEC's leading goal-scorer,
Gavin Admirand, for his 56th score of the season, evening the game at 3-3.
WestConn took the lead back momentarily before goals from
Jacob Banks and
Zach Mann put the Beacons on top 5-4. The Wolves would even the score at five before the end of the first.
After a WestConn goal put the Wolves back up by a score, Banks struck again to even things at 6-6.Â
In the nine minutes that followed, the Wolves rattled off six goals which were interrupted only by a score each from Banks and
Connor Smith. With 3:42 left to play, WestConn led 12-8.
With under a minute left in the half,
Jacob Banks completed his second quarter hat trick and cut the UMass Boston deficit to 9-6.
In the second half, first-year goalie
Broden Youngclaus stood tall in the net, saving seven shots while allowing just six goals. The Beacons' offense, however, could only net four scores of their own.
UMass Boston went on to lose the game by a final score of 18-13, dropping consecutive LEC games for the first time since April of 2019.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Admirand leads the LEC in goals per game (3.87), assists per game (2.53), and points per game (6.4)
- Despite playing in just eight games, Banks ranks third on the team in hat tricks (5) and fourth in goals (23) assists (15) and points (38)
- The Beacons' loss was their first against WestConn since 2015, dropping their record in the all-time series to 11-12

The Beacons will look to stay in the hunt for the third seed in the LEC tournament when they return to James Cotter Field for Senior Day on Saturday, April 22 against Eastern Connecticut State. The game will face off at 1 pm.
