WINCHESTER, Mass. – In a late evening nonconference matchup, UMass Boston Men's Tennis dropped their second matchup of the spring and third match overall this season in a row as they fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology at the Winchester Tennis Club on Thursday night, 8-1.

Maxwell Dill teamed up to win the sole matchup of the evening in the #1 Doubles, defeating senior Kevin Shields and sophomore Pranav Marwaha, 8-6. Sophomores
Felix Nguyen and
Melvin Nina dropped the #2 Doubles to senior Owen Conlon and freshman James Weete, 8-2, while the #3 Doubles was a win by default for Wentworth.
The Leopards swept through all six singles matchups as the #5 and #6 Singles were wins by default to push Wentworth within one match win of the five wins needed to earn victory. They would get that fifth win in the #4 Singles when freshman Thomas Kot beat Nguyen in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-1.
Shortly after, Dill would fall to freshman Rene Rodriguez in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0, in the #2 Singles. A closely contested matchup between Nina and freshman Eric Doraci ended in three sets after Doraci took set one, 6-2, and Nina took set two, 6-4. In the tiebreaker set, Nina fell 10-7.
Competing in the #1 Singles, Ramos was swept by junior Daniel Gallegos, 6-3 and 7-5, capping off the evening for UMass Boston.

WHO'S NEXT
UMass Boston kicks off Little East Conference play on Saturday evening against Western Connecticut State University on the road at 6:30 PM. The match will be played in Middlebury, Connecticut at the Middlebury Racquet Club. The Beacons have won nine of their last 10 matchups against the Wolves dating back to the 2012-13 season.
