HOW IT HAPPENED
Once again, the Beacon bats came alive early on in the contest as following a single by senior outfielder Sydney Sanden, junior designated player Bri Melchionda reached via an error which ended up scoring Sanden to give UMass Boston a quick 1-0 lead. Sophomore utility player added to her hot offensive day in the doubleheader, lacing a two-run double with one out and the bases loaded to put the Beacons ahead 3-0.

UMass Boston would continue to pound away at senior pitcher Marina Monsalve in the second inning, loading up the bases with nobody out before Melchionda dealt the big blow. The junior notched a two-RBI single and senior first baseman Jordan Toomey followed behind with an RBI single to make it a 6-0 ballgame.

Junior outfielder Alyssa Wenger would get the Phoenix on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning, hitting a line drive double to score senior infielder Kaesey Greene who reached on an error by junior pitcher Emily Doble as UMass Boston still held a 6-1 advantage.
Three more runs would come across the plate for the Beacons in the bottom half of the frame when junior infielder Lauryn Bethea knocked in a run on her first double of the season and a two-run single by Sanden drove in two more as UMass Boston cracked open their lead to eight runs, 9-1, heading into the fourth inning.

Sophomore infielder Kaylee Bruce notched her first hit of the season before being driven in by sophomore transfer catcher Kaitlyn Sawyer for the 10th run of the afternoon for the Beacons. Senior infielder Haley Tilberry capped off the scoring in the game for UMass Boston with her RBI single to right field as Doble threw a scoreless fifth inning, bringing the eight-run mercy rule after five innings into effect for the Beacons to earn their second win of the day, 11-1.
