BOSTON, Mass. – Coming off a road trip in which they were outscored 11-1, UMass Boston returned to the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink with a bang against Johnson and Wales University as five different Beacons scored goals in a 5-1 win for the home team on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of the gate, UMass Boston dominated possession on the offensive end, outshooting Johnson and Wales, 23-3 in shots on goal and 31-8 overall. Nearly 15 minutes into the contest on the power play, freshman forward
Jazz Krivtsov fed senior defender
Ryan Rowland at the point where the Manahawkin, New Jersey fired a rocket past sophomore goalie Jacob Perrin to put the Beacons ahead 1-0.
Scoring his first collegiate goal senior defender
Davis Browning added his name to the scoring column when junior forward
Corey Clifton and Krivtsov found him on the right side. The shot ricocheted off a Wildcat defender in front before going into the net, putting UMass Boston in control by two goals heading into the second period.
The Beacons' dominance continued into the second period with yet another goal added to their evening when junior forward
Jacob Banks' initial shot on Perrin was turned away before the forward circled around the back of the goal and found senior forward
Andy Walker for his second goal of the season to extend the UMass Boston lead to 3-0. Holding another lopsided edge in shots, the Beacons rattled off 39 total shots, 19 of which went on net.
Junior forward
Owen Bourdow capped off the evening for UMass Boston with his second goal of the season in the third period on a breakaway attempt that squirted past Perrin with 2:56 remaining in the game. With an empty net, sophomore forward
Kolye Bankauskas tacked on his third goal of the season to give the Beacons a 5-0 lead. In the closing moments, Johnson and Wales would get one back when senior forward Kodi Legassie netted a power play goal in the final minute of the 5-1 victory for UMass Boston.
