HOW IT HAPPENED
An even first quarter saw five ties and three lead changes in the first five minutes of play. A three pointer from sophomore Kenzie Durnford at the 4:01 mark gave Keene State the lead back, 14-12 and was part of an 11-2 run for the Owls to close out the first quarter with a seven-point lead, 21-14, after a pair of free throws from freshman guard
Sibayla Jensen helped break up the run.
A free throw from graduate forward
Meg Dixon trimmed the Beacon deficit down to five, 23-18, with 8:53 remaining in the first half before Keene State regained a seven-point edge as the middle of the quarter neared. UMass Boston would get within four points on two occasions after a three from sophomore guard
Sunny Green and freshman guard
Tatiannah Fevry, but the Owls' offensive attack responded to take a 35-27 lead heading into the locker room.
A 9-2 run to open up the third quarter would give Keene State their largest lead of the game at 15 points with 5:37 remaining in the frame before UMass Boston attempted to mount a response, cutting their deficit down to 10. That would be the closest the Beacons would get as the Owls once again responded and headed into the fourth quarter with a 53-40 lead.
Keene State maintained their double-digit advantage, going up by as many as 16 points while UMass Boston would only pull within 10 at the 2:01 mark of the fourth quarter, falling 68-56 in their final game of the regular season.
