Women's Soccer Bows Out of LEC Semifinals

GORHAM, M.E. - UMass Boston Women's Soccer brought their season to a close on Thursday evening, falling to the University of Southern Maine by a final score of 3-0 in the semifinal round of the Little East Conference tournament.

UMass Boston (7-5-9, 3-1-4 LEC)
University of Southern Maine (14-1-4, 6-0-2 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
A pair of early goals from Southern Maine's Riley Reitchel gave the hosts a commanding lead heading into the second half. A late second-half goal padded the lead for the Huskies. The Beacons managed six shots on goal, including a pair of strong opportunities for Georgia Bonney, but none could find the back of the net.

Finishing off a breakout season in net, Isabella O'Connell recorded eight saves for the Beacons in her 90 minutes in net. However, the three goals would be more than enough for the top-seeded Huskies to advance to the tournament championship.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Playing in her final game, Kaylee Haynes finishes her career with 25 goals, tied for the fifth most in program history
