BOSTON, Mass. - It was all about goalkeeping on Tuesday night as
Julia Cote and
Isabella O'Connell combined to blank Suffolk in a defensive standoff, finishing the game in a 1-1 draw.
THE BASICS
UMass Boston 0, Suffolk University 0
UMass Boston (5-3-4, 2-0-1 LEC)
Suffolk University (6-3-2, 1-1-0 CCC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second game in a row, Cote got the start in net for the Beacons. She faced just one shot in her 45 minutes of play but fielded it cleanly to back up the efforts of her defense.
After the halftime break, UMass Boston sent in O'Connell to take over goalkeeping duties to finish out the game. As Cote did before her, O'Connell fielded both of the shots she faced to snuff out any hope for the Rams' offense.
Unfortunately for the visitors, the Suffolk goalkeeping tandem played just as strong, knocking away all seven of the Beacons' shots on goal. The game finished as it started, in a scoreless tie.Â
