HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening set of Tuesday's match saw both teams get their runs in early. An 8-4 lead for the Beacons evaporated quickly thanks to a 4-0 Fisher run. With her team clinging to a narrow 12-11 run, freshman
Paige Coulson took over, racking up three straight kills to kick off a 12-0 UMass Boston run. The streak was interrupted for just a moment before Katie Touhy brought home the point with her fourth kill of the set.Â
Her team holding on to another narrow lead, reigning Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Livia Trindade continued to be invaluable to the Beacons' attack. The towering hitter ripped off four straight kills to stretch the UMass Boston lead to 15-10. The Falcons were persistent in their attempts to erode the lead, but it
Katie Rennie, Trindade, and Touhy adding late kills to spark a 4-1 closeout run.
The third and final set was a back-and-forth affair throughout. The Beacons were not able to put together any runs of more than three points and the Falcons threatened a late comeback, cutting a 20-13 deficit down to 20-18. A host of Fisher College errors set up UMass Boston match point and Trindade shut the door with her 10th kill of the evening.
