BOSTON, Mass. - Following a loss to start the season, UMass Boston Women's Tennis has caught fire. The team swept Curry College 9-0 on Monday afternoon, marking their fourth straight victory and their second sweep of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first doubles victory for the Beacons on Monday came from the freshman duo of
Sandra Watson and
Kaya-Lilliana Rutkowski, who improved to 3-0 as a pair on the season. The newcomers were quickly followed by the duo of
Zainab Patel and
Lydia Chan and
Elena Albano and
Ayonna Stuppard, who each won their respective matches 8-2.
In the singles portion of the match, Watson continued her red hot start to the season, sweeping her fourth straight match to improve to 5-0 on the season. The stellar freshman was quickly followed by Stuppard and Albano, who each let up just two points en route to victory. Chan claimed victory in her match, surrendering just one point, and was followed by Patel and
Shreya Saravana Rakshana, who each remained undefeated on the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Watson has not surrendered a point in a singles match since her 7-5, 6-2 victory against Wheaton College
- Albano and Stupard remained perfect in doubles matches on the season, improving their record to 14-5 in their last 19
- The 9-0 sweep was the Beacons second of the season and eighth since the beginning of the 2022-23 season
- The freshman trio of Watson, Patel, and Saravana Rakshana are all undefeated in singles play to start their careers

WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will host the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday, October 4. The team has designated the match as their Mental Health Awareness Match and will be honoring the theme accordingly.
