SALEM, Mass. – A night after a hard-fought loss against the University of Southern Maine, UMass Boston Women's Ice Hockey bounced back in a big way, defeating Salem State University on the road, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon as five different players recorded goals in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward
Cailey Kozich opened the scoring for UMass Boston in the first period notching her fourth goal of the season from freshman forward
Emily Hansen and senior defender
Addie Budington to give the Beacons a 1-0 lead with 7:45 remaining. An evenly matched first period saw junior goalie
Victoria Kennedy make 13 saves for UMass Boston while senior goalie Dana Smullen stopped 11 of the 12 shots the Beacons took, who led 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Sophomore forward
Margeaux Butters recorded her team-leading sixth goal of the season to open up the second period, converting on a shot from sophomore forward
Allie Reifler just under two minutes into the frame, giving UMass Boston a two-goal lead. That would be the start of a three-goal second period for the Beacons as freshman forward
Isabella Henningsson-Brown recorded a goal from Hansen and freshman defender
Emma Webster's goal from Hansen put UMass Boston ahead 4-0 going into the third period.
The Beacons would give one back to the Vikings in the third when senior defender Gianna Beauclair scored less than two minutes into the period, but UMass Boston would answer back with two more goals from Reifler and senior forward
Emily Franciszkowicz first goal of the season as the Beacons moved above .500 in conference play with a 6-1 road victory.

- Victoria Kennedy stopped 25 of the 26 shots she faced against Salem State, she has now allowed just one goal in her last two starts
- Dana Smullen stopped 25 of the 31 shots taken by UMass Boston on goal in the contest
