Late Goal Sinks Women's Soccer At WPI

Maria Spylios recorded a career-high 13 saves

WORCESTER, Mass. – A goal in the 82nd minute pushed WPI past women's soccer as the Engineers handed the Beacons a 1-0 non-conference loss Monday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Despite the late goal, Maria Spylios had a career showing in goal as the senior registered 13 stops.
 
The Leominster native topped her original career mark of 10 saves, which she recorded against Stevens Tech in the 2019 NCAA Tournament game.
 
Despite the game being delayed by an hour due to weather, the Beacons defense was solid for nearly the entire contest, as they held the Engineers scoreless.
 
WPI tallied a combined 21 shots on the night, while the Beacons managed seven, two of which were on goal.
 
The lone goal from WPI came from Caitlin Bonavita.
